Thanks, now if I could just find the proper era paperwork, it would be complete.

The holster was just plain (pun intended) meant for her.

Very nice 28 and good pictures. Why is it always a "her"? How can you tell?

A 28-2 was the only service revolver I was ever issued. All the others I had to furnish myself. Love 'em. I killed a lot of felonious jack rabbits with mine.Great revolver.

Nice one Gunny. You'll love the way the 4" model 28 is balanced and shoots. I would'nt take nothin' for mine.

You have a beautiful revolver that will doubtless give you many years of pleasure at the range and in the field. But of course, that is the case with all the Model 28's... simply wonderful revolvers made by one of the most outstanding manufacturers ever to open it's doors. In 30 years I've had a number of 6" 28-2's. Only recently I swapped for a 4" 28-2. Simply outstanding revolver. Makes me wonder why in the world I waited so long to buy a 4" 28. Enjoy your revolver! Sincerely. brucev.

Because I enjoy holding "Her", don't necessarily enjoy holding "Him".

I was given a 28-2 for HS graduation in 64. Carried it as a LEO for years in lieu of a .38. Still shoots well to this day. IMO it was the best .357 S&W ever made. Thanks for sharing, and the pics. Enjoy.

I have a 6 inch Model 28 BUT I do have a 3.5 inch Model 27.
Can one say my 27 is pretty close to the 4 inch 28?
Opinions welcomed.

Since they're related, I think it's fine. I'll never tell.

I don't look at my Model 28-2 as a "Highway Patrolman".
I call it an "Original Mountain Gun" that was mis-labeled at the factory.
I have a Model 625 .45 ACP Mountain Gun and a Model 29 Mountain Gun. Hummmm, same holster...all three guns. Yep, its the original Mountain Gun.
Great score and one fine piece of equipment gunny4053.

You guys are killing me! I can't afford the 18-3 I have on layaway now and you put these kind of pics up there? Now I want another 28-2. Yes, I 'm aware I should just exercise some self control, but you're killing me!

Excuse my ignorance, but a holster with an exposed trigger? Not quite sure I have seen one, but damn does it look great with that gun. I do see that the hammer is retained in place.

Most service style holsters leave the trigger exposed. This one was actually in a box of Police exchange leather from the local PD.
The funny thing about this whole rig, gun and all, was another guy in the shop thought it was rather impressive as well and offered me $700 on the spot. I could use the money, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Sorry Pal, no such luck. I'm already wishing I could find a 6" model to go with the 4", and the search for another 686 CS-1 continues. There is no justice.
