how do I remove Pachmayr grips?
I have a Dan Wesson Model 14 I purchased in the early 80s with Pachmayr presentation slide on grips. I need to find the serial number which is under the grips. I removed the screw from the bottom but they will not budge. I really don't want to have to cut them off, any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.
I didn't know DW serial numbers were anywhere but on the right side of the frame.
Dan Wesson revolver grips are only retained by the screw through the butt. I'm guessing that Pachmayrs are just stuck to the gun. Rubber grips can get sticky and cause finish problems if left on for long periods of time. Try sliding something thin and non-marring between the grips and sides of the frame and pull harder and twist.

I found this website which hits DW's pretty well:
Dan Wesson Revolvers
You might try a drop or two of oil to work them loose.

The easiest way to remove rubber grips is gasoline or "Brake Parts Cleaner" sprayed under/inside them. Either is quicker, works better than oil, and doesn't have to be cleaned off the grips as oil will have to be.
Old trick installing/removing bicycle and motorcycle handle grips!
S&WChad is right, you won't find a DW SN under the stocks.

Try rubbing alcohol, takes motorcycle grips off and should'nt cause finish damage.
