Default Special 29-3

Hey gang I'm looking at a 29-3 at my local gun shop. Its a 29-3 full underlug with a 6" or 6 1/2" barrel. The cylinder is un fluted and the gun is blue and has Hogue combat grips and it has an adjustable front sight to boot. I've never seen one of these sights on a gun with less than a 10 5/8". An idea's what this gun is and what its value maybe. It has a box and all the litrature and retains 95% of its original finish.

That's a Model 29 Classic Hunter. Smith brought that out @ '87 or '88. The Hogues were standard. I purchased mine new back then and it's the only .44 I've kept. I think that model was the begining of their Endurance enhancements for the 29 and 629. I don't know for sure but I think only 5 or 10 thousand were made. A more knowledgeable person will be along to give you a bit more info.

I've seen only 1 on Gunbroker but that was last year. Judging what regular 29-3's go for @ 450-750 bucks would be a safe guess. Depends on condition.

Around here that would go for at least 850-900. What are they asking?

I have consulted my Smith & wesson mentor and I am going to purchase it. If I change my mind at some point in the next couple of months I will turn you on to it.

Thanks I don't really need another 29 6" but I'd probably shell out for that one. Hope you enjoy it.
