Those wacky Mayans -
I was watching a show about Mayan ruins.
An expert on their culture was explaining some of their beliefs.
Such as the *fact* that the sun goes into a cave every evening and comes out on the other side of the world every morning.
BUT - There's some that believe that those wacky Mayans knew what they were talking about.
Those same folks would have been Phineas Taylor Barnum's favorites

I don't buy into the Mayan thing, being a member of the Reformed Druid order. We worship bushes........

I plan to be laughing since according to the Mayan calander Dec 21 2012 has already occured. They didn't account for leapyear which puts their calander about 514 days ahead of ours

The Mayans had a unique game of basketball where the losers died. Can you imagine how fast the NBA season would be over if that were the case now?

In high school we played "Commando Basketball" in gym class. It's basically basketball with one rule: Put the ball through the hoop for two points. How you do it is up to you. No need to pass or dribble, and tackling was encouraged.
Nobody ever died, but a lot of us got hurt pretty bad......Which we all thought was really cool.
Try that with today's "Educators".
I'll bet the Mayans wouldn't like it either.

My first thought was, no undies!
Then I thought, how cool. Basketball with Rugby rules.

According to the Mayan I talked with in Belize, when this calendar cycle ends, the new cycle starts-Like going from Dec to Jan and getting the new calendar. All the Mayans appear to know this, just some strange white guys couldn't hear the conversation and posted on the internet.

Worked with a true rocket scientist, PHd Physics guy.
He spent hours and hours on the computer studying their calendar.
It was always more accurate than our Julian calendar....it only changes once every eleven years for some reason.
Maybe that explains the difference....and no...they did not have a leap year. Did not need one.

I doubt anyone here has a knowledge of planetary movement that comes close to what the Mayans knew... and they figured it out all by themselves. We have the benefit of thousands of years of other people learning and figuring things out... so we know the sun doesn't go into a cave.
Besides... it's just the end of the long count calendar. Another one starts.

Not worried either, me and Tom Cruise will be waiting on
the spaceship to pick us up right before the end of the world.
I do hear that John Travolta will be our pilot. So "No Worries"

Actualy Eric Von Danikan is the least believable. He used to call himself "Professer" but was found to never have been a professer at any known collage. He is also not entitled to the "Von". (don't know if he still uses it or not)

There are the Far East Druids who do Bonsai.
There are a great many 'Closet Druids' who worship LAWNS!
I don't hold with all that plant grooming, takes up shooting time.
