Default My Boy's First Gun

Today was my boys sixth birthday. His party will be this Saturday and he'll get lots of toys then, today I gave him a gift that is no toy. Today my boy got his first BB gun, a Marlin Cowboy Lever Action Replica (Really a Crosman Model LAM350). He must have me present to use it and when it's not being used it lives in my gun safe.

Way to go Dad. He looks excited. I gave my 11 year old a 10-22 this year for his birthday as he has a continued interest in firearms and has shown that he is mature enough for his first rifle. Good times

That is one happy camper there. Good job dad.
Here's wishing you both many years of good shooting
together. Makes my heart happy to see pix like this.

I can think of no better way to instill a sense of responsibility and confidence than this gift and the requirements to own it. I remember my first BB gun and the invaluable lessons that I learned with that responsibility have served me well my entire life, even when I was in a combat zone. I have great respect for your approach, you must be a great father!

That is awesome. Great trigger discipline.

My daughter's first gun was a NEF Pardner single shot .410 when she was 8.

She somehow suckered me into a Mossberg 500 20 gauge and a vintage H&R .22 revolver.

Good things all around, hopefully the tradition of safe firearms continues.
