Thumbs down Bad day

Many of you will remember my castoff kitten, PGT Beauregard, thrown out of a car and brought to me by my daughter. We got up this morning, and he couldn't control his rear legs. Straight to the vet, xrays and blood tests, they could find nothing. He was suffering bad, and the only thing that could be done was drive to Columbia, Mo., to Mizzou for MRI's and other tests, but no real hope. They thought it was neurological, and he was suffering. I had to have him put down.

He had become my buddy, making every step I made and if he couldnt see me, he'd come find me. I will miss him.

He was 11 months old.

Sorry about your pet. They get to be like family.

We lost our dog over two months ago and my son still sobs at night.

Sorry to hear it Jim. It's real tough when something sudden like that comes on. My Simon kitty had sudden kidney failure and we had to relieve his suffering as well. My thoughts are with you.

My condolences on your loss of a family friend.
I believe we've all been there and it's tough.

Sorry to hear that. We had a cat and she had a mysterious paralysis in one of her rear legs. Vet could find nothing on xrays. Put a splint on it which she drug around for a week or two. Gradually her feeling and use of her leg returned, it just sort of progressed downward towards her foot. The whole recovery process tool 6-8 weeks. Very strange case, but full recovery.

Hope you find a new friend soon, sometimes that is the best therapy.

Thanks, everyone.

He will be missed, but I still have the boss cat, Fitzhugh. He is coming up on 12 years old and has shown no signs of any irregularities. They shared everything, food dishes, litter boxes water dish, they romped and slept together. Fitzy is going in to the vet tomorrow for a look over, as a precaution.

It was just unbelievable how fast it happened.

Jim... sorry for your loss. We aren't "cat" people but have had a cat in the house for the past 26 years. First our son's cats (and ours when he went to college) and then an adopted cat that my wife brought home 5 1/2 years ago. They each were part of the family. Blessings to all creatures great and small that bring us comfort... and blessings to all who take them in.

im sorry to read of the loss of your buddy. it was nice of you to take him in when he was brutally abandoned. you gave him the best life he could have possibly had since then. i had to put down my mastiff on 4/3. he was my buddy and understood hand signals and facial expressions i used with him.

Jim, sorry to hear about PGT. I've seen that when
something goes wrong with a cat, it tends to be very
sudden. When they get sick, it's usually too late anyway;
by the time you recognize they're having any trouble, they're
gone.
Knowing that doesn't make it any easier, though. TACC1

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your family friend. Their lives are always too short it seems. He was fortunate to find such a loving family for his too short life. I'm actually a veterinarian (did part of my training at Mizzou actually), so of course I've had to help owners with this type of difficult decision a lot and it never gets easier. I do feel fortunate that we have this option for our animal friends that are suffering however (sometimes I think humans should be so lucky). Hang in there buddy.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Just try to think of the good times you had together. It doesn't take away the pain but it makes it easier to bear. Nice to know you did everything possible. I lost my dog last year. She is buried next to the house. I still miss her, and say good night to her every night.

PGT Beauregard, will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
