Pricecheck on a 2nd model 44 hand ejector
I came across a nice clean 2nd model 44 hand ejector. The gun has the wrong grips, but the finish is 98%+ and appears to be factory finish although I forgot to check for the "B" underneath the barrel for blue finish. 6.5in barrel. The gun is nickel and it has a lanyard. The SN is somewhere over 20XXX, but less than 30XXX. I am a little hesitant at approx $800 but then again, these are rarely seen in such condition. I know there were plenty of these made but at the same time, its beautiful.
Is this one priced too high? What say you?

If it is truly original 98% finish, I wouldn't think it too high priced...
I'd ask that much if I were to offer mine.

Check also for a date on the left side of grip frame to verify if it went back to factory. Are the hammer and trigger nickel?

My 2nd model 44 is SN is a little under 22000 shipped Jan. 1924. It has the same grips with the recessed medallion. I have been told that these grips were discontinued by 1921 for the non medallion grips. Interesting that two similar 44's from the same time period have the earlier grips.
Oops, I may have mismatched text with photo.

No, thats one of the most obvious signs of a refinish. Everything looks great on it. Ironically however, the gun is probably re-finished. I will start another thread about that topic.

Sorry to confuse Goring's with my gun. In the letter Roy suggested it had the wrong grips, but it's in the time frame for either and I'm not turning them loose.
Goring, Did you buy it?
