Default 1911 action .380ACP

I have a Star .380 that is a minature 1911 Series 70 style (no stinking magazine safety) that is a constant companion in my flight bag.

Problem is, it has a thumbrest grip that makes it downright uncomfortable to carry in an IWB holster. Plus, it's difficult--and expensive--to find extra parts and magazines for it.

Doubtful there is a market for such a gun anymore, but the S&W 1911 is a work of sheer art and I would love to see one scaled down to a smaller size to accommodate .380ACP or even 9mm.

I have an awful lot of pilot/aircraft owner friends who would love to have such a gun for their flight bags--plus a very easy, convenient and effective carry companion once landed and at our destination.

Plus factor would be that it could have some appeal to women as well.

I remember the original Lady Smith in 9mm, but no way in Hades was I going to tuck a gun in my waistband or flight bag that had the word "Lady" on it. . .

Anyhow, I'm in kind of a dreaming mood so why not dream about another perfect gun, eh?

JD

Why not just get a Colt Mustang? I enjoy my Mustang 2 or they also made the Goverment model. Also why are you afraid to carry a gun with the word lady on it? I love my 65 LadySmith and being a 357 she is nothing to laugh at.

I'm also a big fan of the Colt Mustang. Unfortunately, they are no longer made and prices have gone through the roof.
Check out the Sig P-238. Its very close to a scaled down 1911 in 380. I had the opportunity to shoot one and was quite impressed with it.

I'm pretty sure Colt has or is starting up the Mustang .380 again (I read it somewhere). If so, I would go for that. I carry a Colt .380 Gov't. - like it. I just got a Sig P-238 - have to say I'm not impressed. I wanted to be, but I'm not. I'm sticking with the Colt.
