I kind of like it. Last month I went to a jeeping event out west. The trail I lead is at the south end of town, and its where the locals stop traffic. I know the cop who's been at that station for a long time. He used to go jeeping with us, and he's a really good guy. So every year we get about 15 minutes to BS before my trial pulls out.
This year something happened about a block north. He couldn't move his cruiser (blocking the road sideways.) So as he started to run up to where the commotion was, he yelled at me to tell anyone who went around his road block that he'd be back and would shoot them! I enjoyed it, but kind of wondered why he didn't just tell me to shoot them for him. There's usually a medium sized crowd of onlookers standing there to watch (1700 jeeps pulling out of town.) When he yelled that at me one guy asked if he was serious. Too much of a temptation. I said "oh yeah, you don't know Tom, do you?" Lots of muttering, but no one passing, either. Sometimes people just need to face reality.
