New Upper on. Had hell of a time
Put my new upper on and had a hell of a time with it. The barrel nut came off real easy (seemed like a little to easy).
When I put the new upper on and tightened to about 31 foot pounds the star hole was slightly past gas tube hole not much, but not enough to line up the gas tube, so if I backed it up it would be too lose. So that ment I had to move one whole hole clock wise. I was at 80 foot pounds and still had just a little more to go (I read where they said 80 is the max you should go).
So I kept trying to back up and go foward (loosen then tighten). I just could not get there. Finally I said F' it and gave it all I got. In the process the wrench slipped and I bent one of the stars (dam near broke it and definatly bent it), but I managed to get the gas tube aligned. As sweat dripped off my forehead.
Right after I put every thing back together and went to the range. I put 100 rounds through it and it ran flawlessly. Spent my time re-sighting it. I got it hitting real good again (thank God!)
Now I am exausted that stressed me out.....heh
Here are some pics:

She shoots great. My torque wrench is a 1/2 drive, about 16 inches long kinda like a breaker bar. (more like a break stuff bar..haha) One thing I was impressed with was the M4 feeder ramp notches in the Del-Ton upper. They lined up perfect with the ramps in my barrel it looks like they were cut together. Also the dust cover has a perfect fit when closed (very nice)

That is a pretty good looking set up but I was able to line up without going above 84 ft lbs of torque. My way of thinking that is a safe number.

IMHO these rifles look so much better without the cut out for the grenade launcher. I have heard it said that the area doesnt impart any harmonics on the barrel but it almost has to. Maybe they arent shooting them the way I do. LOL

Agreed! I don't need one as I don't even own a grenade launcher (sad really).

You know, it's only a matter of time, in your case Grover, that a cut out will soon appear on your 'sport'

The sad thing is Rod is I have that other barrel hand tight on my "sport" upper and the cut out is there, but before I am done I may find another barrel I like better, like one of these!!!
5.56/223

Check it out. I had to go and buy something else:
LOL, just kidding
I seen these: M203PI EGLM, Quick-Connect M203
It looks like they don't need the barrel cut........... but I'm not sure, maybe they do.
