need your opinions on grip set up....
aight.. here i go again... mr indecisive..... soon im gonna have a Omega Tactical drop in quad rail but now i cant figure out how i want to go about accessories... part of me wants to go Magpul AFG, than another part of me wants to go the "Oneyeopn" route and go mag well grip and bipod(sorry for the name drop but that set up looks nice)... the only downside is i have a Leapers UTG CQB red dot so long distances could be iffy.......... that being said.. vertical grip/grip pod is another way i could go
my problem is.. gunshow season is over in ohio so i cant go see how similar setups feel and i dont have any experience with any(except my old marlin 22 had a bipod on it)
what im asking is... can anyone with similar setups chime in as why you chose it and why you like that set up?
thanks guys

PB...
To be honest, the only way you'll know what you'll like is to buy it, put it on your rifle, and shoot.
I'll admit to having a a few AR parts I purchased, found out I didn't like, and are now in a box waiting to be used for a future "Land of Misfit AR Parts" build.
For example, I really wanted to like the Magpul AFG but my wrist didn't. It's now in a box waiting to be used for the misfit parts build.

The end answer is this....what is your intended purpose for the rifle? Look at how you want to use it for "real"....is it a hunting/longrange gun like Oneeyes? The man is blowing the heads off of prarie dogs @ 300 yards and shooting sub MOA groups routinely or.... is it a weapon for personal defense like mine? I went the vfg/eotech route primarly for this reason alone, anywhere I'm going to use the rifle for real ( god forbid ) will be under 100yds and I'll have the need only for "combat" accuracy as friggin fast as possible as many times as needed. Consider your "mission" and surroundings and it will point YOU in the right direction for YOUR setup.
Good luck bud
Cool part is you can always change things....just takes $$$$$$ and permission if you are married like me

yeah most of my shooting purposes as well will be under 100 yards so short range and quick target acquisition is the name of the game................
my wife thinks my gun doesnt need to change one bit.... i beg to differ

What the (esteemed) Japes says rings very true as well.
"shoot thine weapon with ammo plenty and thou shoult known thine gear"
"or Magpul products give me a man chubby sometimes but alas sometimes they dont work"

LOL ...Bane you'll have to be like the rest of us, buy and try and have multiple grips, handguards and buttstocks stowed away.

LMFAO....I tried the GripPod, for my style of shooting even the Military version wasnt steady enough plus the legs were not adjustable for uneven surfaces. For me a forward vertical grip doesnt work but I know it does for some people. My next build is going to be the tactical under 100 yard rifle so I will be playing around with some of the stuff in my land of misfit parts box, I should say boxes by now LOL. I love my setup but had I not been able to get such good deals on some of the parts I wouldnt have it. Fortune smiled upon me and I stepped into it. If you share your rifle with your wife she might, as mine did, have a problem with the height of the GripPod. But I agree shoot it until you figure out what you want out of it. If anyway possible try not to have a box of misfit parts, use the money for ammo and targets.

I went with the a Mako vertical grip first. I liked it a lot and it was comfortable but after some lengthy sessions at the range, my forearm would get tired quickly.
I switched over to the Magpul AFG and I like this a lot better than the vertical grip. My forearm doesn't get as tired as quickly and I just find it a lot more comfortable overall.

I love the look of that rifle! What barrel is that? Have you had any problems with the Poly front sight getting overheated from the gas block. That color really stands out and looks cool.

I think he's got the Troy sights in FDE (I almost bought the same ones, but couldn't bring myself to drop $200 on sights that I'll only use if my optic breaks) - they're annodized aluminum and shouldn't have any problem on gas blocks.

Thats right, they are Troy Battle sights in FDE. They were a bit pricey but I picked them up when I got the rifle so I got a pretty good deal on the bundle. I've gotten the barrel pretty hot to the point where I could feel the heat through my gloves and the sight was still cool to the touch. The barrel is stock.

So you must be in a state that doesnt allow muzzle devices then, or your rifle is a compliant version?

I'm in New Jersey so yeah, it's a compliant version. Been looking to get a fixed muzzle brake though but not really a priority at this point. Will make it look cooler though
