I'm half way through it..............not sure about it yet.

Problem with these shows they'd find drama in taking a nap.

They need to change their name to the Reality Show Channel and forget any pretense of being the History Channel as it was originally intended. The only true history based shows they have now were made years ago.

I wasn't thrilled with the first episode. The guy in NC appears to be more of a "Mt Man" to me. The other two have too many modern conveniences. Not saying it wouldn't be tough what the guy in Alaska does but I don't envision Mt Men having planes, chain saws, snowmobiles. The couple in Wyoming have a really nice house, truck and electric??

Where is Jeremiah Johnson??

The guy from Alaska with the stupid, nasty looking hair on his lip I thought was the most interesting.

When his snow machine wouldn't start did he say he had to walk ten miles back to the cabin? What about the photographer carrying all of the camera equipment? He must have had some kind of transportation why didn't he bring him back. What a bunch of Bull!!!!!!! How did the photographer get to the cabin? I didn't see him in the plane. These guys are never in any danger.

All of the talk about Bears and the guy from Montana only lost his dog for a few minutes. I was on the edge of my seat sweating bullets over that one.

Everyone on this forum should know by now what gun, caliber and weight of bullet you should have to take care of those nasty Bears.

I'll give it a 3.

Sorry but that didn't thrill me at all. The people living the life they depict have a difficult life but its nowhere near what I would call a mountain man. The History Channel was ruined by Ted Turner and hasn't had much to do with real history in years. Ice Road Truckers is a perfect example of their historical programming catastrophies.

Anyone ever figuer what the cost of owning a airplane is and useing it to go 300 miles to your shack to trap a few pelts? Wonder what his day job was to afford that? Sure beats some of those canned laughter situation comidy shows though. When I was a kid in the 50s I had a distant cousin that went to alaska to live that life. A couple years later they found his bones in a remote cabin.
Right now I am watching "outback wrangler". Some guy named Matt has cameras following him around in the outback of austalia trapping and tameing wild horses, bulls, handeling poison`es snakes etc. This dude looks like a rugged model, has two helicopters chaseing the critters for him etc. Hmmm lets see. Two helicopters got to run close to a $1,000s a hour or so, plus, plus? My calcalater his getting hot!

You must enjoy Parking Wars also. Maybe a different channel.

I dislike all the redundant shows, Pawn Stars, Swamp People, Crab Catchers, Ax Men, Ax Men withTattoos, Hair stylist, blah , blah, SOS every episode. They should put them all together and have a real war.

I agree! Read the "criticism and evaluation" section at this site > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_(TV_channel) . I personally spend very little time anymore on the History Channel and much prefer History International > H2 (TV channel) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Much better for those of us who enjoy studying man's past.

Really the only "reality TV" show is Coast Guard Alaska on the Weather Channel. Jim

Mountain men? More like a bunch of well to do men who have a lot of money to spend and a lot of time to waste. The history channel is almost as bad as the outdoor channel.

I remember growing up listening to the talk of my grandfather who actually lived up in the mountains for months at a time with what they packed in and out. To me those guys were mountain men. One thing I noticed when the two were building their treestand is which one will fall out first and how will that be used to make hunters look worse in the eyes of some. I live in the Adirondacks which means according to the TV show means I am more of a Mountain Man than a couple of them, and by no means to I consider myself a mountain man, just a redneck. I was wondering the same thing about the guy hiking 10 miles back to his cabin. It's like this past season of Axe Men which bordered on ridiculous and some parts of it with Jimmy & James was obviously fake. Even this season of Top Shot was dull with swinging pirates and artillery and less about actual shooting. Now IRT is starting up again, making me wonder where this is going. I really miss shows like Conquest, Histories Mysteries, Tales of the Gun, and a few others that used to be on. Although I will say Larry the Cable Guy's Show wasn't all bad, kind of like Dirty Jobs with a southern drawl.

Action movies are geared to a 13 year old mind. These newer reality type notch it up to about 15. They did get me away from fox for a couple hours though. Last night I watched a couple hours on the amish kids breaking away and one on the hutterites up in montanna. They sure got a cornner on the market on "Ugly"!
Now they need a special on the "Lost boys" that are thrown out of the FLDS poligimist communes in colorado city and hilldale on the utah arizonna border so the old mulla,s can get the young girls.

Say what you want, but when that guy in Alaska wasn't on a TV show and was living this life, he was risking death from so many directions that we take for granted. I know the shows create conflicts for drama but The things that can go wrong with that guys plane, snow machine, falling trees, broken ankle.etc. are endless. Better than watching a guy eat fifty hot dogs in a half hour, though.

Money for Nothing
Dire Straits
Intro featuring David Bowie (IIRC)
EDIT: OOPS! It was actually Sting.
The vocalist/guitarist for Dire Straits was actually Mark Knopfler

I'm not sure that even the best "reality" show bests an average sitcom. As for the best sitcoms, they destroy these pathetic excuses for video entertainment now running rampant over all channels, everywhere.

And if you like well-written, well-executed comedy, cartoons are one of the places to be right now. There are some brilliant people making cartoons right now.

Ted Turner ruins everything he touches. He owns the rights to classic movies that we'll never see again because he won't release them. He's a dirtbag, albeit a rich one.
He has also stated that the Gospel of Christ is for losers.
Might be the first time in his life he ever spoke the truth.
Think about it. I detest him and I better shut up before I say too much.

I must say I really enjoy Troy Landry (Swamp People) much more than Alec Baldwin, Charlie Sheen, or Jerry Seinfeld.
