Default N-frame grips

Any thoughts on RB Nframe grips for concealed carry, do you have any pictures of your favorites, I would like to get two sets one for a 329pd and one for a 4" 629, so the range gun feels the same as the carry gun

Default N Frame

Concealed carry of an N frame seems to be an oxymoron. I have 7 N frames and have never been able to hide their presence. If you have to have a big bore carry gun, and I do too, I suggest a 1911 Lightweight Officers' in 45 ACP or one of the 44 Special revos. I have both and can hide them even in South Florida. Just my .02. Your needs may vary.

See my avatar. Bonded ivory rb combats on a 29-4 from Gun Grips for Sale| Colt 1911, Python and Woodsman - Exotic and Beretta Wood |Revolver and Handgun Grips in North Carolina. Got this link from forum member Old Corp in another thread. Fast service, good prices. The grips went right on and fit well without any filing/grinding/cutting.

Also, Kim Ahrends does fantastic work, at a great price. Ahrends Grips : Home.

Hope this helps.

buck45 has a point. N-frames are on the large side for ccw. Shoulder holster, like a Galco Miami Classic is one option for a 3" gun. Hi-rise pancakes tend to let the gun flop around, due to the weight being above the belt line. An OWB holster that weight of the gun rides somewhat below the belt line makes more sense, but then you need a longish untucked shirt (Hawaiian) in the summer or coat in cooler climates. It's doable, but not the easiest solution. An IWB would be uncomfortable, IMO.

I'm not big enough to hide a longer barreled gun in a vertical shoulder rig, but I know guys who are.

I'll go along with pretty much everything Enframe said. I had Ahrends on my 3" 24-3. They're quite nice. IWB holster IS uncomfortable, and a high-rise pancake lets the top of the gun move around a lot even with a stiff belt. CG is just too high. I'm one of those guys for whom a vertical shoulder holster works fine - I'm 6'2" with a long waist, really wide shoulders so a straight hanging cover garment completely conceals it. In fact I prefer vertical over horizontal.

But as much as I like N frames, like buck45 I bowed to the reality of physics and went to an alloy-framed compact .45 semi-auto for my primary CCW. Much lighter, much smaller, more rounds, easier to conceal a spare magazine than a speedloader.

I know that a light N-frame CAN be concealed comfortably in Florida, because I was carrying my 325PD with Hogue rubber grips for a couple of days before my son (who was a jail guard, retired now) realized it, and then only because I took the gun out. However, while I find those to be great grips on the 325, they are not my favorite grips on my 4.25" round-butted 25. They're not bad, but not the best on the 25 (best is probably Pachmayr Compacs). I don't offer to explain the facts, but it probably has something to do with weight and balance.

Default N frame is for concealed carry w/Ahrends grips

If you can't conceal carry an N frame you ain't trying hard enough. I conceal carry a model 29-2 with a 4" barrel under a loose fitting shirt using an IWB Don Hume Holster. You need pants that are slightly larger in the waste and a longer belt.

I also conceal carry a model 325 using the same holster as well as with a Galco high ride holster.

Ahrends grips can't be beat when weighing fit, finish, feel and finance (the 4 F's of grip buying). I have retro bananas on my 325 and retro combats on my 29-2.

Altamont makes some nice, fairly price grips. Keith Brown if you want the best and don't mind paying for it.
