Question
Since buying an M&P22 pistol, I got the M&P bug. I now have the M&P9 full size, the VTAC 9mm, and now an M&P15.
I have a Glock 20SF (10mm) with a Lone Wolf 6" barrel and I like it a lot.
So the question is, and I searched this forum and can't find an answer, can a barrel for an M&P Pro function in my full size??
Thanks for any help.

If I understand correctly, you want to install a 5" bbl in your 4¼ pistol. I am guessing it will not be right. I just looked at my 4¼ and there is a rebated diameter. That is, the front ½ inch (length) is larger diameter than the rest of the bbl. Assuming the PRO bbl is that way the bbl would be a loose fit in the slide. There are some suppressor barrels that will definitely work in your gun. In fact, you can buy a suppressor ready pistol kit with both barrels. I do not know the lenth of the suppressor barrels, but they stick out the front of the slide.

You are correct, I wanted to use a 5" barrel in my full size (4.25") M&P.

Yes there are threaded barrels for all M&P models. I have seen 5" barrels in 4.5" guns but they looked to be aftermarket barrels probably made for the purpose... they were raw stainless.

I slipped a 5" Pro barrel into my 4.25" gun, and it is a loose fit at the front. Jaykellogg is right that the stock M&P barrels have a larger section at the front, so they only correctly fit their own slide length.
You need to look aftermarket.

My thoughts are to suggest you buy a M&P Pro in 5". That way you have the increased barrel length AND increased sight radius. I know the 1911 guys like the long slide version for the increased sight radius. Midway has barrels for your 4¼ pistol that are 4.95" long and ported for about $150. I can see where in a 10mm pistol there might be a benefit to increased barrel length, but in a 9mm, I cannot think of much of an advantage (If it isn't ported).

My LGS can't hardly get a Pro in 9mm, he gets the 40SW all the time. But I'm sure I'll find one eventually.

You can still find factory threaded barrels. Just need to look around the auction sites. I picked mine up new for $125
