Drum roll please.......I got it!
As many of you know, I've been searching for one of these 27-2 3 1/2" er's for about 2 years, and despite my many attempts, have come up dry. (Well I did land one 5" blue one and a 5" Nickel, both factory fired, but you know what I mean!)
Thanks to two Forum members dlbx2 (David) and Ditrina / Doctor 27 (Sal), I was able to purchase this from Sal this week!
The nickel is flawless! The pics, courtesy of dlbx2, are awesome and I couldn't do any better. But seeing it for the first time yesterday in person, well I got weak in the knees!!
Everyone know's that there are some very thoughtful members on this board, but it really hits home when you receive the help that I did, from David and Sal! Thanks gentlemen!!! They went out of their way to help me spend my money!! (Oh yeah, gonna shoot the 5" Blue, Skeeter gun now!!!!)
Now, LOOK AT THIS!!!!
Shipped: July 1977
And a few more that I took...

Atleast those too wonderful examples of Fine S&W revolvers went from one Navy Man to another.
Bob, I am not surprised that you had to "think" about your post. I would still be in shock with just one of those Beauties, let alone TWO!

Very nice gun and the accessorys are always a plus. I use to think the nickel guns were too flashy for me but hanging around here has changed my mind. not to mention when I show my modest collection to people they ow and auh over the nickel guns. Kinda like watching fireworks. O ya I forgot to mention I have your guns big brother 4" and Its been wearing on me. Some day soon I hope to acuire the skills to post pictures. Congrats on your quest coming to a good ending. Remember good things come to those who wait patiently

Bob,
Congratulations as that is amazing and just plain beatiful.
Here's mine and it looks almost perfect but it has someone's name engraved under the grips so I shoot the tar out of it.

Bob, you have a real beauty there...everything from the original packaging to the presentation
case to the sweet target stocks and that nickel plated mastery of machining, the .357 Magnum
model 27-2. The star of your collection! Bob

Thanks GF. I saw what ya done got recently!
Like I said, gonna find out what Skeeter was talking about and shoot the 5" Blue one now. Gonna keep this one like it is.
Not today though. Shooting when it's 90 degrees w/60% humidity, just don't sound like fun to me!

Seriously, that is just awesome. The nickel looks perfect! I'd be afraid to even touch that one with human hands. I could not be more jealous!
And IMO this is the best picture of the bunch:
Why you ask? Because of the reflection of the cylinder on the frame.
DANG that nickel is just perfect.
