I took this in trade so don't know the history, nor am I a revolver expert. I took this in trade with the intent of carrying it on hikes. After firing it I've apparently become a huge weenie in the last 20 years since my last 629......
This is what I would consider a shooter, not for collectors. It has marks mainly on the left side. A nick right on the "wesson" on the left side of the barrel and numerous fine scratches on the frame around the cylinder release and grip frame. The right side looks pretty clean. I was going to have it bead blasted for a dull finish if I kept it. The sideplate has been off by the looks of the screws but does not feel like the trigger has been monkeyed with. It's smooth but nothing looks like it been polished and not crazy light.
I bought a box of Remington 180gr JSP .44 Mag, shot them, cried, cursed and wiped the gun down. It went bang everytime and knocked down the steel. I'll be sticking with my M&P45C for hikes so this is for sale. It seems that nice N-frames in the short barrels go for over $1000.00 depending on the model/condition/etc. Due to the marks (character) and no box/papers/etc. I'll take $750.00 for this one.
