Default Grips S&W 29-2

I just picked up a 29-2 4" blued, grip has a chip just behind trigger guard, I'd like to replace them but keep it original. I would be willing to purchase a good used or new set and/or trade my damaged grips. Thanks Ken

Depending upon when it was shipped, there are three distinctly different stock patterns that could have been mounted on your 29-2.

If you can give me an idea of the serail number, xx-out the last couple of numbers, I can extrapolate the production era and get a little closer to the type you would need.

Your stocks could be repaired by our very own S&W Wood Wizard, "DWFan"... he's done many sets for me with complete satisfaction...

Default 29-2 Grips

Drew, S/N S3001**. The grips have numbers on the back side #5912 and #5913, I also have the S&W manual and parts break down, shows the Grips for $6.90 each side. Wish I bought a few pairs then. The grip has a diamond on each side around the screw. The gun is 99% I'd like to get a set of grips for it. Thanks

The numbers #5912 and #5913 are the catalog stock numbers for each panel. Your gun was made just about the time that the Diamonds were dropped from Smith wood, IE; circa 1968. N-Frame Diamond Targets are what you need and they would not be inexpensive. A good pair can set you back several hundred dollors. If it were me, I'd take the damage origionals and send them to DWFan and have him repair them. His work is superb.
