Frankly all these ads are starting to really bother me...They are everywhere down the sides and on top of each and in the threads.... many move around to distraction...I don`t think I`m going to deal with it any more...This is a good place but it starting to drive me to distraction...I go to many guns sights and have never seen anything close to this level fo abuse

You can cure that by becoming a supporting member. Bronze status is not costly for the info that is available and your ad problem is taken care of.

+1 to the previous posts. I have been to a lot of other gun sites, too. This one is better than any other I have found. It is worth putting up with the ads, annoying as they are, because they help fund this place. It is even more worthwhile to pay a little bit to support the site. Getting rid of the ads is a welcome side benefit, worth the price of admission all by itself.

You know....I`ve been on internet forums for close to 20 years....I`m now on golf forums...car forums...gun forums and a few more....And I`ve never been confronted with what you are talking about until coming here..."paying a fee so I don`t go nuts with all this blinking flashing ad abuse"...

It`s similar to TV...50 years ago you bought a TV and watched the programs... then corporations got involved and you started seeing ads maybe 5 minutes a hour then these ads got longer and longer...Now you spend more time looking at ads than the program you intend to watch every hour...and now you have to pay for TV monthly...And they are now starting to stream ads along the bottom of the program you are watching so you will soon be bombarded with ads 100% the time while watching TV...Arn`t these corporations great..ops I called them corporations thats a nono as I now understand it they are people...

Before writing this thread I tried to remember anything I`d read here that I had not read on other forums and I couldn`t come up with one....

I guess now one needs to measure the real value of any forum vs this new added abuse one has to put up with...Fields was right "there is a sucker born every day"......

I can live with the ads, considering the info and good folks here. What I don't like is that if anybody posts anything even hinting of a political view, it's deleted and the warning message is sent, and we have to see political ads all over the screen when visiting here. Not that I have any desire to talk politics, but if I'm not allowed to, why do I have to look at political ads? How do these ads get here? I hope this is not considered a political post, it's not intended to be.

Political Discussion and Comment states that (among other topics) Political Discussion and Comment are BANNED on this Board...

I am not sure that the Forum has control of what is advertised - they are simply trying to offset the cost of maintaining (storage, band width limitations, domain name, etc.) this great forum. You always have the option of contributing to remove the advertisements...

This place is a second home to many of us. We don't watch much TV. Don't hang out at the local bar. Don't drink latte's. And some of us have relinquished the TV to our spouses!

For just pennies a day, this place is more than worth the cost. Heck many people spend more than that on things they THINK are necessary.

This is with out a doubt the best gun related forum around. The administrators and the moderators do a very good job keeping it running smooth.

If you've been around any type of forum long enough you know how expensive they are to run. No one man should have to bear the cost of running one alone. Therefore we have the ads.

It's a personal decision. If you leave, we understand. If you stay, we'd love to have you. Look at everything this forum has to offer and see for yourself.

This has been discussed ad nauseum. The ads are random Google ads and the forum has no control over them, but they do help to offset the expense of running this forum. Despite that and the contributions provided by the members, there is still a significant shortfall that Lee pays for out of his own pocket.

Typically, the ads you see are the result of something that has been discussed on the forum. For example, if you were to post that you bought something from the XYZ company, at some point, you would see a Google ad for the XYZ Company. As for the political ads, you should be happy that a political ad for an anti is actually contributing monetarily to the forum.
