Default Value of Model 17-4

I have a chance to buy a model 17-4, pinned barrel, recessed cylinder, original small grips. Gun is in about 95% condition. My question is, is the 17-4 a good model or should I look for a different version (17-3 etc...). They are asking $595. These were purchased from an estate sale. No box.

These 17s are great revolvers and always bring top dollar.
In my neck o' the woods that would be a fair price for it as described.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a M17-4. Should be a great shooting S&W 22.

They dropped the pinned barrel during the run of 17-4's but if that one has it then it's all good. I have a P&R 17-4 with 8 3/8 inch barrel and it shoots like a rifle. They are great revolvers and around here that would be a good price.

17-4

I have a pinned 6" 17-4 that shoots good with no problems. It's LNIB with 3-T's (labeled from factory)
IMO, a 95 percenter for $595 w/o box or accessories sounds a little high to me but the current market value for such guns may be in line price wise.
I'd feel better at $500 or maybe even $550 but don't miss a chance for a desirable model over a $50 difference if you want it and can afford it.
