Default Schofield first model

Hello,
I have a Schofield first model.
I think it has been refurbished at S & W because there are markings 44 and 5 with a diamond on the butt.
Do you think this is possible?
Thanks.

Very nice Schofield you have there. It does look like the surface may have been refinished, and well may not have been the reason why it returned to the factory. The bluing almost looks too good to have gone for over 100 years with no wear. The 4.4 could well mean April 1904 return to the factory and it may have been a repair, a re-blue, or both.

I have heard that the diamonds refer to a repair and not a refinish, but maybe someone knows for sure. Is there a star on the butt by the serial number?

Your Schofield is a S&W factory refinished gun. The photo is to fuzzy to make out the full date, but it is 4.?? which means April and the last two digits right of the decimal point are the last two digits of the year the work was done. Get out your magnifying glass and
tell us the last two digits. Are you sure the figure in the diamond is a "5" ? If it's an "R" it stands for "refinish" and was stamped at the time of the work If it's a "5" it's a fitters stamp. The stocks were probably replaced by the factory when the gun was refinished, and may, or may not , have the gun's serial number stamped on the back of the right stock panel. There should be a "US" stamp on the butt, unless it was polished off in the refinishing. The interesting part about your gun is "How did it get all the way to Corsica?" Ed.

Thank you for your information about this revolver.
There are two numbers 5 and 44 and there is a diamond with an R or B.
There is not "US" on the butt.
Seria number 2874
I am a collector and with the globalization of exchanges, I bought some weapons in the USA , this is the way that I had this Schofield.
