Default Gun Belt question

I have been looking at some custom holster makers lately and I have a question. I am mainly interested in a Threeperson style. I realize that a custom job can be made many ways, but lots of makers use a standard 2 1/4 inch belt loop on the holsters. What type of belt is this made for? I suppose it is made for a belt that you don't run thru the beltloops of your pants (since I don't think pants loops are that big). Am I thinking correctly? If you have pictures of what you use, please post them. Thanks.

I only use a 1 1/2 pants belt and I use a Threepersons with a 1 3/4 belt loop. I don't like an extra belt for the holster. Larry

Police duty belts are two and a quarter inches wide.

Aren't these worn on top of their other belt and sinched up tight around the waist.

I am still hoping to see some pics of someone wearing a 2 1/4 inch belt with holster.

It's made to fit a cartridge belt. The dimensions on the Galco TEXAS RANGER 44/45 CARTRIDGE BELT indicate it is a 2 1/4 inch wide belt. I believe other makers build to a similar dimension. These belts are worn like a modern duty belt - over the other belt/loops.

You aren't going to see anyone wearing a 2 1/4 inch belt THROUGH belt loops. 1 3/4 is max.
