OK, it's my first 38 S&W. It's naked 'cause the finish is long gone, but it's tight and it shoots great.

I think it's a 1899 gun. Maybe someone could help, the SN is 3895XX. The grips are one off...one number higher. I guess he had a hard night, maybe he was just far-sighted. Maybe the 'ole lady had a boyfriend or it was 4:45 on Friday. Maybe HE had a girlfriend and the wife was going out of town. Whatever, isn't that just the kind of stuff we LOVE to wonder about?

It seems lately, the older the better.

I have a 1887 Marlin that is almost identical to the S&Ws.

Lots of good honest wear, but well cared for. That's character!
