Default Make a NYS compliant Mag

Is there a way to turn a 25 round mag into a 10 round mag that is NYS compliant. I can get a couple 25 rounders cheap but would need to convert them.

There is a follower that takes up the space of the other 15 rounds, isn't there?

I know NYS has some messed up rules, but do they apply to rimfire?

Do I have to glue the bottom on after I install that? NY has weird wording that say cannot be "readily converted to a larger capacity"

Good question - I don't know, but a drop of super glue would take care of the issue.

you could also pin the mag so the follower won't drop farther than the 10 rd limit, and cover over the pin with epoxy. this is essentially what smith does with the long 10 rd mags.

once the need to use a drill, hammer and punch and other tools comes into play it isn't readily converted. on the other hand if you could simply slide out the floor plate and remove the restriction on the mag quickly it could be perceived as an issue.(i'd glue it so tools are required.)

(i believe it's 10rd NY, 15rd NJ)

I waited for S&W to produce the shorty 10 rd mags, don't really care for long mags especially when shooting from a bench. I'd just sell the 25 rounders and buy the shorter 10's. ymmv

You may be able to drill and install Pop Rivets to the body mid way down after you know the 10 round limit. As in California, the 10 round mag can not be converted back to a full high capasity mag, so the crazy glue at the bottom is also needed. Read your laws of your state, they will go after folks that don't, another fuel to eliminate guns in the hands of the citizens.... Good Luck.

I agree.

In California, if I had a repair kit and the 10 round limiter. It would not be enough for California. According to the Calguns Wiki, the alteration to the large capacity magazine must be done by a continuous ribbon or ribbons of welding or a rivet fixed in place with epoxy.

You spend $400+ on a rifle, and you won't just spend about $16 bucks for a magazine? Is converting a mag really worth possibly going to jail ? Just buy some new ones............best regards Plum

Look I just had a chance to get 4 25 round mags for 22 dollars I have passed because I don't want to take a chance. I was just looking to see if anyone knew a way. If there was an easy way YES I would rather spend $5.50 on a mag than 16 bucks.
