Problem with a 586
I bought a new 586 a few 4 or 5 months ago, first time out shooting with ammo I didn't reload myself (learned my lesson) the primer blew out. Well... usually I have no trouble doing this but I took the gun apart to try and clear it as best I could. Now, not sure what you call it, but the rotator arm spring is way out of wack, it doesnt catch at all. Something obviously isn't put together right. I had an ex-gunsmith check it out, but he is out of practice and he said I would have to have some one who has fresh knowledge fix it, but everything else is right. This is where I turn to you guys. Any advice? Could I fix this myself? If so how would I do so? Thank you!

By rotator arm spring do you mean the "hand" spring? The little arm that is attached to the side of the trigger, and the spring puts the correct pressure to push it through the recoil shield and index the cylinder? The hand should (normally) never be removed from the trigger. It's tricky, but the spring should be oriented to hold the hand in the forward position. I don't have a picture to show you , the spring goes inside the cavity in the trigger, perhaps one of the other's has a picture showing the orientation. (I would have serious doubts about a "gunsmith" who couldn't re-install one).

You'll also need to know whether your 586 has a forged trigger or an MIM trigger. The hand spring on the forged triggers are pinned in place and the hand springs on the MIM triggers have one end of the spring retained in a notch across the trigger. It is VERY easy to spot a forged versus MIM trigger, the Forged trigger will be solid on the rear surface of the trigger and the MIM triggers are "scooped out". Since you've probably had your hand spring pop out of it's notch is likely that you have an MIM trigger but you'll need to check to be certain.
As for how to get the hand spring in place on an MIM trigger, do a search on Youtube, there is a video there that shows exactly how it's oriented. One warning though, I had to watch that video 5 or 6 times before I finally figured it out completely, the clarity and camera angles aren't the best.
