Price check: 3.5" M27-2?
A friend has a 27-2 in blue with a 3.5" tube. It is wearing Magnas and in about 90+% with no box or extras. Solid gun with good bore and tight action. I told him it is too used to be a collectible yet too nice to be called a mere "shooter". I'm guessing that a fair price for it would be around the $750 mark, with today's prices.
Thoughts?

I would say you would be looking at AT LEAST $750 to $800 here, maybe even a bit more. S&W's generally tend to run high in these parts.

He's thinking about selling it at a gunshow in Montana this-coming weekend. I'll advise him to ask $750. He's aleady got another 3.5" so he will likely let this one go.

I'd start at $800.00 but be willing to come down to $750.00.

The last 3.5 inch 27-2 I saw, in about 90-92% with original grips, was marked $850 and sold quickly. Your friend should be able to get $750 without much trouble.

So what shoould he ask for his 6" Model 35 22 revolver? It is also in superb shape with no box. I've never seen one of these for sale before.

Saw a Mod 35-1 at an auction last year that went for $850. So with buyers premium would have been north of $900. It was 99+% in its #'d box with cleaning kit and brochure.

He'll have a table at the Anaconda Gunshow this weekend. He seems to have several S&W he wants to sell, many more shooter grade but a few nice ones too. Said that its time to move some stuff he's "not really using". I'm trying to talk him out of one 44 magnum....

Your friend should consider selling his 27-2 here,
FYI the early pre 1968 Model 27-2's serial numbers started with an "S and came with diamond grips ,
IMO there is a slight premium for 4" and 3.5" barrel guns especially 4 and 5 screw pre model marked versions ,
Model marked 4 screw guns with the S serial and original diamond grips ,
P&R 27-2's are more desirable than the dash 3 non P&R versions

His is a 70s vintage gun, post-S. I think he prefers a face-to-face cash transaction rather than fooling around with shipping and payments. He is a stand-up guy and a highly knowledgeable shooter, but little interest in collecting. Love's good S&Ws for what they are.
