At what point did the gray boxes phase out in the Bangor Punta era?
Been looking for a 13-2 Nickel box and seems one has turned up, marked as a N, however, it is a blued box. Not saying it's original, just a tad confused as I was thinking they had to be gray. I know - S&W...
Well, chap confirmed it was in fact a 13-3 box. Guess that answers that question.

Nickel guns were often shipped in blue boxes, but with labels indicating the guns' finish. I guess when they ran out of gray boxes they'd use the abundantly available blue ones. So, grab that box, it's right!
yes as to the above, you will also find at times, a white sticker on the opposite end of the box that has the "data/details" of the gun inside the box, and we have often seen "nickel" guns marked properly on both ends of a 'blue' two piece box,more often in the 39 and 59 autos we've seen...........
