Default New member from Atlanta metro with a loaded question

Greetings to all.
The reason I have joined the S-W Forum is the powerful and broad knowledge of the member's subject matter.
Being retired engineer one can recognize the authority with which the members discuss the variety of subjects.
I am looking forward to join in on some of the posted threads.

This time I am posting one of mine.
Last year I've purchased from a local gun shop a used S&W 64-4 in a great condition. Last month my wife decided to take the firearm safety and shooting classes. From a variety of guns she selected my 64 as her weapon of choice. I am considering a S&W 686 or 65 which are .357 as a replacement for mine.
Do any members in Georgia know of a reputable dealer where I can purchase a used replacement for my 64 at a reasonable price point?
I just love the smooth trigger action of the 64 and I feel that my wife will appreciate it also.

If you were happy with the service at your local gun store, why not reward them with the additional business? There are several auction sites that should have either of the models you are looking for, give them a try.

P.s, welcome to the forum.

Welcome from a fellow Metro Atlantan. There are a lot of reputable dealers in your area. Now to find your price point, there's the challenge! There is a show this weekend at the N Atlanta Trade Center. Bet you'll find just what you're looking for there. Good luck!

Always nice to see another "home boy" on the forum.
You also might want to check out Advenure Outdoors in Smyrna. Not the best customer service but big selection & fair prices

Default Big thank you from Atlanta

Thank you all for your good suggestions about the possible sources for our new 686. For the record, i did go to the gun dealer where I've purchased the original 64. Taking under consideration the latest market demands for the good quality used guns, he is not very optimistic with the prospects of locating one. Thank you again for the suggestions. I will explore the suggested locations. See you in the Forum.

Welcome from Cumming, GA. I would post a WTB on the forum for the revolver you want, say that you prefer FTF Georgia resident. Selling handguns other than FTF is costly as you need to pay FFL costs or ship by FEDEX/UPS overnight . So on a FTF GA deal I can sell for $50-75 less, and the buyer gets to see it before he buys. Gun shows here have not attracted much collector interest in recent years and the few quality guns there are overpriced. Bob

First off, welcome. I live on the south side of Atlanta. Most of the "dealers" on the south side are pawn shops. I frequent several very often to look for Smiths. It is pretty much hit and miss, mostly miss. Way too many plastic guns for my taste, but hey, it is what it is. FTF is the way to go, if possible. Post a WTB on local Georgia sites if you want to stay local, but from time to time you will see what you are looking to buy pop up on this site. The real trick is to remain patient and find what you want. Although I give the "remain patient" advice, I have yet to be able to follow my own advice.

Adventure Outdoors is a rip, they over price and don't even think about trading. Chucks usually has some decent Smiths and their prices are within reason had a nice 28 in the box spotless for 750.00 a month ago. Might try Dave's on Buford Hwy also. Good Luck!
