Default Mod 49 - Date and Value

Looking at picking up an unpinned nickel Mod 49. Been looking for one for a while, but have not come across one that was not pinned and want to get some opinions from this group. Very good condition, low number of rounds, with box and papers. Serial # 1J42XXX. Any help is appreciated. Sorry I don't have pics.

Probably shipped in 1983, right before they went to three-letter/four-digit SNs. Probably about a $400 gun or a little more due to the box and contents.

Thanks Murph. I'm looking at paying more, as they just don't seem to come up often and it's one I've been looking for a while.

Lots of discussion and buys at "I know it's at the high end but when will be the next time I'll see one" prices. Good luck and post some photos when you pick it up.

I hear you...nice circumstance when you are on the selling end. Somehow, I never seem to be on the selling end of the transaction. I can't complain thus far, as all the wheel guns I have acquired have left me pleased in the end. Pics will follow upon arrival.
