Default IMR SR4756 in 40 loads

Looking to use IMR SR 4756 in 165 JHP loads. Has anyone used this and what results did you have?

Yes my 40 likes 7.4 with a 165 or 6.4 with a 180. I have also used these same loads for 165 and 180 copper plated with no issues. Both are as accurate as any factory ammo I have tried.

My two handgun powders are SR7625 and SR 4756.
SR7625 in 38Sp for range/target/plinking loads.
SR4756 in 9mm,38Sp,357Mag,40S&W,10mm,44Mag.

There are probably a lot of good powders I could use for handgun. SR4756 has always burned clean and complete for me. And since I chronograph load testing,SR4756 has always given the velocities I was trying to attain.
On the 9mm,40S&W,and 10mm, a good consistent crimp is important.

You never know what powder your gun will like until you try it.
My .40s all like AA5 in terms of ultimate accuracy and Silhouette in terms of accuracy and velocity. 4756 is a rather slow powder for .40.

I've NEVER cared for ANY powder or load I've used in my 40S&W....even the 610 revolver I can barely put up with my moderate 180g pin & steel loads....

Loaded a few 180 JHP with 4756....and liked it well enough to do some 165g (which I've never care for either)....and they are SPECTACULAR in both the Glock & the 610!!!

I've only put a few hundred down range with the 4756 but so far it really was a major find for me. I too will be trying another can of it for sure!!!

Thanks for the input. I'm loading 7.5 grains behind Montana Gold 165 JHP. Going to the club Sunday to give them a try in the M&P.

Will post results afterwards.

Just returned from the range. The loads performed well. Good accuracy and felt just like factory load. I don't have a chrono so can't report on velocity. Functioned well with no misfeeds. Extremely pleased.

Only two powders in my 40S&W semi autos, SR4756 or Longshot, um, period.

Longshot has higher velocities with less pressure than SR4756 BUT, SR4756 is what was on my shelf at the time.

I have recently switched to the lighter bullets, 155gr-165gr and use full charges of either in my M&P Full Size with good results.

Since my 40S&W loads could find there way into a Glock, I stick with these two powders. Lower pressure, higher velocity means a win/win when dealing with an unsupported chamber.

FWIW
