New Guy, Retired Gun Writer and LOVE My S&W ARs
Hi folks,
Some of you might remember me. My name is Steve Timm; I wrote for Handloader magazine, Rifle magazine, Guns & Ammo and wrote lead-in pieces for literally every Nosler Reloading Guide ever published.
Oh yeah, I was also the lead feature writer for Varmint Hunter Magazine for sixteen years.
Anyway, I've been retired from writing for several years now. I work hard, but it is at ministries at our Catholic church.
My wife, Karen, and I have been married for 48++ years and we are both getting close to our 70th birthdays.
Lately, I've picked up an addiction; I love Smith & Wesson M&P AR rifles. At last count, I have an M&P AR-15TS, an M&P AR-15 MOE and an M&P AR-15 - 22. And love them all.
I'm here to learn more. And perhaps, just perhaps, I can help out a few of you.
Let's have fun and learn together.
May God Bless ALL of You,
Steve Timm

Guess I'm not the only one that drops in here when the 24hourcampfire gets boring.
Good group of guys here, Steve. Very polite for the most part.

Thanks for the very warm welcome, friends. I truly appreciate it.
Oh, I should mention that I'm using Aimpoint sights on my two 5.56mm S&W rifles. My TS wears an Aimpoint H-1 and I chose an Aimpoint T-1 for my MOE ... both have the 2 moa red dot reticle.
Both of my S&W 5.56s handle incredibly well and, of course, they are wonderfully supplimented by the S&W M-15/22. The .22 version feels just like the 5.56s and it sure pays for itself in ammo savings.
Count me as a Smith & Wesson fan!!
God Bless,
Steve

I too have read your articles in quite a few different magazines and feel honored for you to join us. I hope you enjoy the camaraderie and just plain old down home feeling that I find in this forum. We have all types here, from the truly tactical to the varmint hunters. I find myself in the latter but I have learned so much from the former. Anyway Welcome and God Bless you and yours.

Steve , almost 70 . I never would have known from your style of writing. any picture of you used, to accompany an article, was from the archives. I consider myself a relic , so don't get too "miffed". I'll be happy to spead the word of your joining S&W -f .

Again, my friends, I'm overwhelmed by your gratious welcome. My heartfelt thanks.
I know, I know, they all look alike but here is MY S&W M&P M-15 TS. The Aimpoint is just tailor-made for this cutie.
Ain't she a beautie???
God Bless Y'all on this Beautiful Morning,
Steve

The grip is the one issued with this model. It is the TS ... "T" prolly means tactical and I have no idea what the "S" designation means (maybe SUPERB )
The trigger is a Timney with the skeletonized trigger blade and it's the 4-pound model.
I keep ARs around our home, just in case I have to sweep the place out. Strange things happen in a firefight situation and any trigger under four-pounds is (I've found) unsafe. This Timney is wonderfully reliable, plus it is crisp and breaks at precisely 64-ounces time-after-time.
Surprisingly, my S&W M&P AR-15 MOE is somewhat of a mutant. The trigger is absolutely stock and it breaks perfectly, just short of 5-pounds. Nice and I've not comtemplated replacing it.
Oh, here are photos of my MOE:
That is an Aimpoint T-1 in a LaRue LT-660 mount sitting on top. Yep, it is capable of night vision use.
Dang, I love the Smith & Wesson ARs ... All of them!!
God Bless,
Steve
