Where is the best place to mount a laser on the 15-22?

probably side or bottom of the rail towards the front. anywhere that it doesnt block your vision and is easily accessible.

Top or bottom. Both have issues with offset, but side has other issues as well.

There is nothing saying you can't mount it anywhere you can stick it, but top and bottom are easiest. Side does have issues with Zero, and at an angle has issues with zeroing.

That being said, top is probably preferable. But as they say, the mission drives the gear. If you are just using it for plinking then there is no real reason where you put it. But if you are using it to shoot around barricades or such, then the top has definite advantages.

You are pretty much certain of having the top over the barricade. If you remember your original sight offset of course. With it on the bottom the laser might get obscured when you are in cover. And you'll only need to remember high offset when shooting. KISS.

What do you want to use it for?

+1 for top mount. If you are using iron sights, there are several available that integrate the laser mount into the front sight housing; however, these are not flip-up sights. Or you could buy a flat, low-profile model for pistols and mount it on the topside rail in front of the sight and use a flip-up front sight if you needed that option.

I would say bottom mount, only because that leaves the top clear for irons, reflex sights or scopes. On the bottom, you won't have to move it, no matter what you put on top. Or, if you also want a bipod or such on the bottom, and if you like it far forward (as I do), then side becomes a viable option.

But then you also have to save a place for your flashlight, beer opener, mag holder, etc.

I know you probably aren't using a PEQ-15, but it is what PIMPMYGUN has a picture of.

There isn't anything that says your BIUS has to be right on the end.

Add in the scope, and the laser, you might not even need a BUIS.

Had mine on the bottom just in front of my forgrip... worked/works great for me... quick on/off access... also depends what kind of lazer you got... good luck with it.

i dont see a need for tactical positioning on a .22. further out your front sight is, the longer your sight radius and better accuracy. just my 2 cents, you dont have to listen to me.

I'm with you on the front being further out, and mostly with you on the not having a need for tactical positioning other than practicing your tactical maneuvers with your 15-22. I hear a lot of people using the 15-22 simply to train for their .223 at a cheaper price. And nobody ever has to listen, but all opinions increase knowledge and insight. But I don't know why I'm tryin, nobody listens to me either lol
