Minty Pre War hd What happened?
Here are some pictures of a minty pre war heavy duty.The trigger,hammer,And all the internal parts are in the white.What Happened?Did some yahoo polish them all? DSC_0001.jpg

The small parts are OK like that. The hammer and trigger should of course show case hardening colors. Could be somebody didn't like the effect and flitzed the offending parts.

David,Do you know anyone who used rgs restorations in Oshkosh Wiconsin.I was Looking at his photo gallery on the antique guns he restored and I was impressed.He does some fine case color work.He quoted me a price of 300.00 on the hd.

Wish I could help, but I'm just not informed about restorers and refinishers. I would think that you could satisfactorily case harden the hammer and trigger for less than $300.
"Flitzed" I meant, not flitted. I edited my previous post.

The hammer and trigger were sanded, to remove the case coloring. You can see the
light sanding-scratch marks on them. This is the standard way to remove the
case coloring.
$300 is an OK-to-slightly-high price. Somewhere between $250 and $300 is about
the going price.

The clean look is appealing to my eye, but I do prefer fine CH.
Really beautiful gun either way.

You can't blame the guy. I've seen mint non refinished nickel guns with hammer and triggers that have been nickel finished. Still a beautiful gun!
