Got an albatross (double eagle) today!
I holed out my 2nd shot on a 485 yard par 5 with a 5 wood on an uphill, blind shot from 225+/- yards out. The group on the adjacent tee went wild (we never saw it). They said it bounced once, rattled the flag and dropped straight down into the jar.
I won a $140 "skin" and then proceeded to spend $ 300 and change at the bar. Money well spent!
I had one 18 years ago with a long 5 wood (2 days before my oldest was born).

I guess you gotta play golf in order to understand golf.
"Holed out", "double eagle". All Greek to me.
Whatever the hell you're talking about, it sounds like its a good thing in the golfing world, so congrats.

Ok Hillbilly, let me put it into a more "forum appropriate" scenario...It's like dropping a 250" B and C whitetail in his tracks with a double lung shot using a j-frame 442 from 225 yards when he's inside the blind and you're out in the alfalfa!
I hope this helps and thank you brother!

That's the kind of shot that makes you love golf. If I remember correctly, I hated it most of the time.
It's not relaxing like fishing. I'll fish all day without a nibble and won't be upset. They're just not biting. But play golf all day chasing errant shots in the woods, or seeing balls you paid for go in the lake, shoot, I wanna break all my clubs then kill someone. Never carry on the golf course.

Congrats. I thought you bought one of those double action Colt 1911's they made briefly.
Best regards,
Nick.

This being a gun forum and all, I thought this thread was going to be about a certain ill-designed Colt doubleaction autoloader. I'm seriously disappointed. Aren't there golf forums for guys who like to hit their little balls with clubs?

Yeah, I clicked on just to compliment him on his allusion to the Double Eagle being an albatross!

People can say what they want about Tiger Woods, but I still enjoy seeing him make some of those nearly impossible shots. After the 5th back surgery I gave up golf and donated my clubs to the 1st Tee.
