Default Apex DCAEK Longevity??

I was getting ready to buy the DCAEK from Midway when I read one of the reviews. A former NYS LEO said he put around 3k rounds downrange when the trigger started getting lighter and lighter. He said it finally got down around 2lbs so he put the stock sear back in. Is there anyone out there w/ 40k rounds downrange on one of these kits?

Man 2lbs is definitely not good for a carry piece!

I have the Apex sear and USB in my full size M&P9. I do not have the DCAEK kit so springs are not same but sear and USB are the same. I have a Lyman gauge. Trigger pull after conversion was 4.25lbs. Trigger pull after about 2,000 rounds post conversion is still 4.25lbs. I check it about every 500rds. If I see it drop I will post.

As many apex kits that are out there, I'm sure this would have been a known problem by now. Some of the reviews on Midway are downright hilarious.

One would think so but then again most people really don't shoot as often as they should.

Wow, 2 lbs? That's interesting. If his pull is that low either the trigger return spring popped off the trigger bar or the spring is broken.

Either way we would have sent him a new spring to replace it with an apology. However, we haven't heard about this occurance around Apex.

We have DCAEKs in our own guns that have thousands of rounds on them and the trigger pulls are holding at the mid to low 5 lb mark.

Longevity is just fine. I have an Apex FSS in my gun with over 10,000 rds with no issues or changes in pull weight.

Talking

Scott:

(Long time no torture.... Hi to Randy, too.)

Methinks improper heat treating or materials in the striker or sear. Likely? Probably, but a one-in-a-million thing, I would think....

I think you'd notice the spring failure at the first cleaning.

A Ham Radio forum I used to spend time on was full of those "I just got the package" reviews.... Real fun reads.... (Actually, the guys would open the box and test-drive the thing, but not really test. At least they generally admit it.)

Regards,

With the trigger pull weights that they generally use, it would probably take 3k rounds for him to realize that he wasnt having to pull a truck with his finger anymore to fire the weapon!
