Default Ethanol Free Gasoline in MS

A while back there was a discussion of where to buy Ethanol Free Gasoline in MS. There are, according to Pure-Gas.Org. 288 stations.

Here is the link for them.

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

Costs a bit more...but you will be surprised at the first class operation.

Works much better in lawn equipment. Especially if you mix gas and oil.

Also much preferred for older vehicles with carburetors.

I checked Texas, and most outlets seem to be located in smaller towns, none in or around Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Ft Worth, El Paso, etc. I have to wonder where these small stations get the gas they sell? I also note that many locations are marinas, and probably don't sell for use in motor vehicles.

Most of it is brought to you by Hugo Chavez via Citgo. I don't run it in my personal vehicles unless I'm out of state and can't find the ethanol free. The difference in costs (it should be cheaper than ethanol) is made up for by performance and increased mileage. I won't pour that engine poison in any small engines or boats. Ethanol is another example of an idiotic feel-good idea that has all kinds of side effects. It has run the price of corn up enough to cause famine in some areas of the world. It has run the price up of anything that eats corn. (checked your meat counter lately?) It destroys small engines. It makes fuel more expensive. Somewhere there's some tree huggers sitting around feeling all warm and fuzzy about this. People in charge need to see what kind of collateral damage they're gonna do before they do something else stupid.

Ate up $1700.00 of my wallet for repairs to my Yamaha 200 on my bay boat. I used Stablil often. DO NOT let your outboard set up for very long.

Regards

Bill

Yep, mix Ethanol (alcohol) in with gasoline and it WILL combust BUT . . .

1. alcohol absorbs water and turns into sludge. Not a problem if you drive your car all the time, but let that ethanol gas sit up a month or so and the moisture in the air will separate in the tank, fall into the gas and will bond to the ethanol . . . creating a sludge that will ruin carburetors, clog fuel lines and injectors . . . and ruin a tank of gas too.

Heck, because of the moisture issue, gas with ethanol cannot be pipelined . . . only shipped in tanker trucks.

2. The alcohol is a great solvent too . . . it will strip the cylinder walls of lubrication. Again . . . it can be death for a small engine that sits idle a lot.

3. The alcohol also eats up rubber gaskets, breaks down neoprene rubber and clogs up carburetors.

Ethanol gas is more EXPENSIVE than gas not including ethanol BUT . . . the government subsidizes its production, which then artificially makes it "cheaper." Yep, your tax dollars in action!

As my small engine repairman told me recently, ethanol gas is a small engine repairman's dream come true. Because of it, they repair a LOT more engines.

Alas, I learned too late for my chain saw and my edger . . . and my always dependable '85 Honda Big Red suddenly experienced a ruined carburetor that cost me about $100 to rebuild . . . thanks to Ethanol.

Again, if you run through a tank of gas every week or so you have nothing to worry about but . . . that's some BAD STUFF!!!

When I run 10% ethanol/ gasoline in my car I get 1 MPG less than when I use 100% gas.
That's less than 1/2 a cent per mile.
But if they're going to charge the same price per gallon, I WANT that 1 MPG!

Default My findings; LOOOOOONG!

After about a 4 years hiatus a station in my area now has ethanol free gas available in its premium pumps. I had looked in a 100 mile radius and could not find the gas I wanted till last month. (That included checking the ethanol free website that lists places to get it, it just was not available!) I live out quite a way in the boonies. Only that ethanol junk was available and that went for the marinas on the lake I live on. They did put additives in their gas, but even those people said no one would sell them ethanol free gas.

Well something must have changed as I reported above and in taking a “leaf peeping drive” we found a few other stations now selling good gas. The station closest to me is 20 miles away and the others I found on my ride are 60+ miles away.

They are charging about .20 more a gallon, but if that’s what I got to do to get gas I want I will pay it.

I have a gas powered generator (4 stroke) for emergency use and many 2 stroke toys and tools, so I stopped and filled up five 5 gallon cans to keep on hand and use for 2 stroke mixes.

Now for the results I got when I went back to real gas: My 350 CI 19’ boat now goes 3 MPH faster, starts easier, (like it did before the real gas went away)FWIW in boats that go over 50MPH its estimated that for each mile increase it takes 15 HP. HIMMMMMMM!!!!!

My 07 Z06 Corvette now starts easier and without a doubt it has more power and smother acceleration. It’s also getting noticeable better mileage as it was the vehicle we took leaf peeping and also a trip to Hershey PA. (Like it used to before the ethanol junk was FORCED on us!)
Chain saw, weed wackier & lawn mower/other stuff now start easier and run better.

Due to its cost I will still use the Ethanol junk in my DD 4x4PU as that gets driven a lot, so gas is changed often and a power loss is no big deal.
