Less from new Jersey
I am 77 yrs old and still shooting since pre-teen. I have a M52-2 with a redot scope mounted with a grip mount which comes loose so I am thinking of drilling and tapping and mounting on the slide. I would like to hear pros and cons. Thanks in advance for help. Less

Welcome Less. If you think it comes loose now-wait till it's on the slide. Is this a target gun? Protection? I mounted a Bushnell Holosight on one of my 629's and then took it off. I couldn't miss. Took all the fun out of it. Enjoy the forum.

Welcome. I don't know if I would mount the dot on the slide. Have you seen the straddle mounts that are popular on the 1911's? Or else, check into the Burris Fast Fire with a designated mount for the 52. It is supposed to be very shock resistant, and it is so small and light it should work well. I have one coming that I plan to put on a .22 bullseye gun first, then If I like it will see about one for a 1911. Glad to hear your still shooting at 77, I'm 68 and still at it and was wondering how much longer I can plan to shoot. Without the red dot I would have quit some time ago. Just wish I could get the darn cataract out of my right eye, Dr. says just isn't "ready" yet.

Less is definitely what I've come to expect more of from the Garden State when it comes to the 2nd Amendment!

Hi Richard, Thanks for info. I'll have to look into straddle mt & Burris sight you suggest. Yes the old eyes with out glass sights are NG. I shoot more trap than other shooting, I do much better there. I just had left cateract removed but right eye is still OK. Right now I am recooping from other medical problems and can't shoot at all. Proggress is slow but making headway. Less
