Hi new to this forum. Looking to find a year for a S&W revolver. It's a S&W Mod 63 .22LR 6 shot , 5"bbl, Serial 86687.
Will add more later. Thanks!

Hello from indiana! I'm assuming the ser# on the gun in question has an M prefix if so i would say 1975-76 m60001 started in 1973 and m99999 was 1977. Bob K.

Well in the picture the gun and grips look very clean and like new but I cannot read the engraving. I don't mind a good clean older gun ...for a good price. If I win it I'll post some pictures. It's from a dealer with a good rating so he must know what it is.

Hi everyone...(love all the responses!) I won the gun! should be here day after tomorrow I think. Got that FFL hooked up with my local FFL and they will do their thing. Went out and got a carry case (this isn't a gun to wear), cleaning stuff and some ammo..ready to go. Might need some new grips..not sure till I see it.

Gun shipped today...held up 'cause of Veterans Day. I submitted my application for my CHL today. Yesterday I got a carry case,a lock, ammo and cleaning stuff for gun. The gun has Pachmayr grips that looked older and slippery in the picture and I ordered some Hogue Bantam grips for it. Been looking for a good place indoors to go shoot. There is one place not too far. I'd rather shoot outside when I can.

BTW the serial number has no prefix- just 86687 ; under it is something that looks like a K4 or A4. Not sure

murpyhydog in differnt thread got me all fix up. That 86687 was a production number. Serial number is M104xxx - had to take the grips off and look on the handle butt. murphydog told me it's a 1978. I was old enough to have bought it new once upon a time!

Serial number help!
I need some help. I have a serial number and I need someone to tell me what handgun the serial number is for. Hoping one of you has the Standard Guide and you can look up the serial number for me. I just ordered the 3rd edition on Amazon however I'm anxious to get the info now. Serial number is 589145.
