Hi all,
I have been here about a month and have posted a couple of times already but I thought a better introduction was in order.
My name is Mike and I am from Australia. I started shooting S&W handguns about 20 years ago. I shot service pistol match with the Brisbane Area Army Pistol Club. I had a 586 back then and thought it was the best thing on earth.
I gave up shooting when our fearless leaders in government changed the laws regarding firearms ownership in an almost overnight "knee-jerk" reaction to a massacre at a popular tourist destination here in Aus. It was abhorent and brutal crime, without a doubt but the government thought it best to disarm the public of anything semi-auto, too concealable or even military looking..long arms and handguns.
Have they never heard the old "if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns" ??
Anyway...I started collecting antique handguns including old Colts, S&W, Dean Adams, Beaumont Adams...and the list goes on...
Now after all this time I decided to get back into the sport I loved....I got the forms, jumped through all the beauracratic hoops, paid my money and waited my time and finally the government has decided that I am a fit and proper person to hold a concealable license once again.
I must admit that after teh license process has been sorted I have had nothing but good experiences with my state weapons licensing branch..so I shouldn't complain too much about the past..lol
Anyhow, since first posting here I have had heaps of great advice and hours of very informative reading.
