Default American Handgunner

Wanted to thank the members for their many kind words about American Handgunner and many of our writers. Your site administrator was kind enough to get me registered so I'd like to introduce myself.
I don't get much spare time for visiting, but when I do, I promise I'll return. I'm a long-time wheelgun guy and if you've been reading American Handgunner since I took over as editor (almost ten years ago now, yikes!) you've watched the increase in revolver coverage. I promise we'll continue. I can be reached at the magazine just about anytime at [email protected] and welcome any questions, comments or just a quick hello. You guys (and gals ...) are full of good ideas, help to keep me informed of what's important to you to see and read about and sometimes I can use the industry-ears I get to in order to help make some ideas happen.
I appreciate your support at Handgunner, and my compliments on a civil forum, run with decorum and good nature. A rarity from what I understand, as I have little experience with them!
Roy Huntington
Editor and Publisher
American Handgunner Magazine
(We also publish GUNS, American COP, Special Editions and Shooting Industry Magazine just so you know ...)

Welcome, Roy.
I just wanted to let everybody know Roy means what he says. A while ago there was a thread about the magazine and somebody posted that e-mail encouraging us to contact him to thank him. I did, and got a very nice reply from Roy himself the next day. I appreciated that, and really enjoy the magazine. (Even all those 1911 articles).

Roy, glad to see you here! Love the magazine. Hey, I see that Venturino and Taffin are listed as forum members - rattle their cages and get them to post something here.

Welcome to the forum, Roy!

I'm pretty new here myself, but I can tell you that the aggregate knowledge of the members here is pretty impressive.

Looking forward to your postings, and here's a tip- you may want to put a few of these guys to work for you; not only can they can take some great photos, they can also write from the perspective of personal experience, and with panache!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum, Roy. You may occasionaly see some discussion of "coogers" here, but I can assure you that carnivorous buffalo are never mentioned here...

You all are too kind.
My first article was published in a Guns & Ammo "annual" called "Firearms for Law Enforcement" in about 1986. How did the years go by so quickly ....
As so many of you must be, I was taken by S&W from as far back as I can remember. If someone tempts me with a blued N-frame they'll get me every time. I have a well-thumbed Gun Digest from 1964, and the S&W revolver pages in the catalog section still have my greasy 10-year old fingerprints on it. Hopelessly addicted. Oh, and to .22 rifles, of course.
I only recently was able to make a trade, and now proudly own (again) the Model 29 I bought new in 1975 (for $235, the scalper ...) at Kranse's Guns in San Diego. I had it for a few years, traded it for an AR rifle (I know ... I know ...) and lately found out the fellow still had it, and had not even fired it. A quick twist of an arm and we had a trade neatly done. The old girl rests at home now after a bit more than 30 years. The wooden box still has the brass corners I installed, but the flocking in the lining is showing its age .... like me, I suppose?
I'm a hopeless gun-crank, as we used to be called in the old days, and have always felt to put me as the editor of Handgunner was a bit like tossing old Brer' Rabbit into that briar patch.
Please write to me at [email protected] anytime. I find it difficult to get time to visit here, but will try. I'll also rattle the cage of Venturino and Taffin. They used to visit, but said they got put off by the nay-sayers. I'll let them know things are civilized now.

Welcome from Middelburg, Netherlands!
American Handgunner has over the years been a great guide to me, great informative articles with superb photos. My love for sixguns was already there, but it did ignite a spark on several occasions!
I remember clearly the first time I saw the Freedoms Arms Casull .454! And I might never would have owned a .45 ACP revolver?
From John Taffins' articles for instance I learned that you actually can enjoy shooting a .44 Magnum, with the right (firm) grip. Otherwise I might have put the gun down after just one shot!?
And Mr Ayoobs articles on stress during self defence learned me things I used and still use in competitions.
The fact that you come here means that you are really interested in the people that read your magazine! Thank you.

American Handgunner helped me to build an honest opinion on handguns I would never have had without it.

Welcome from a long-time reader from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

American Handgunner coverage by Mas Ayoob got me interested in going to the Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot where I had a fine time each summer for 10 years.
