Response to 10-5
Thanks for replies. Looks like I have a 1969/1970 model 10-5. This is in original shape in the original S&W box with S/N and other info on a label on the end of the box cover. It is perfect and appears to have been fired only a few times. Does anyone have an idea on value? Thks, KK

In February I purchased a model 10-5 w/ SN D512xxx for $400 cash OTD after taxes here in Texas. No box, but was perfect in full lock and in otherwise excellent aesthetic condition. First time it shot well to point of aim with range rounds, and did particularly well in single action with 6 rounds of speer gold dot 38+p defense rounds. From my research on my 1973 model, the 10-5 is readily available, and a quality firearm if properly cared for, but not really a collector's item. I've read that the pre lock S&W's are increasing in value moderately, but I don't really care because I'm not selling mine as I've decided to quit chasing brass. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply. Yeh, I didn't expect to have a collectors gun, but it is a nice piece. I do see some smudges on the front of the cylinders, but barely detectable. I guess it has been fired, but to me it looks like very little. I'm going to try my luck at sending an image of the cylinder front for comments, if you have any.
