new here from TN w/ mod 36
hey guys,
im completely new to this so, it may take me a while to get use to.
im looking for advise on side mounted lasers and also the correct holster for my model 36.. ive been a little confused about holsters and the bluing on the gun..
i also have many more questions but, ive ordered the S&W book, hopefully the correct one to tell me more about my newest gun. i am a new S&W owner, picked one up on a deal i could not refuse! after handling the gun and shooting it i feel like i may be getting hooked. and one more thing in this post, do many S&W owners buy the $50 certificate or does the book provide everything there is to know. also, does that certificate increase the value in the sale of a S&W firearm?
i may need it to be known that i am a paraplegic in a wheelchair of course.. and use to carrying a .32 tomcat. but im in love with this gun for home defense!!
thanks a ton for any replies!

Welcome from Texas Casey. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
Well, you can post in the lounge, concealed carry, revolveer sections and will find that there is more traffic there and good folks to answer.
I carried a Tomcat as a back up gun (BUG) for several years until I obtained a Colt Mustang in .380. The Beretta is a fine little gun when loaded with Silvertips or Corbons.

i carried a 3032 tomcat as well, till the frame broke, not cracked but broke.. i loved the little gun, especially being a paraplegic up until the other day.. this happened last week shoot the same 71 grain ammo i always use when practicing.. gun probably had 150 - 200 rounds through it and its about a year and a half old.. what really bothered me was that it shot the first round then the first round out of the mag then that was it.. 2 shots, trigger and hammer stuck completely back!! i was heart broke because this was my main source of protection against anyone wanting to take advantage of someone in my position.. i guess if i didnt have 2 well placed shoots then i could have thrown the gun at them to slow them down or something.. a buddy of mine has one as well and i begged him to let me buy his after shooting it a lot but, he said no.. so i settled on a new one.. i wrote beretta about this and they paid to have it sent back so, off it goes, rather ill get it replaced i have no idea. beretta said this "may" be a warranty issue. but from what ive read, id be the first to get one replaced.. i hear once they get your gun they charge $70 to inspect it then offer you an inbox gun for $180.. then back charge the shipping and charge you to have the gun shipped back.. when its all said a done you end up with the same gun and your out $300 bucks.. just kills me, im not able to work that much because of my condition and i just dont have that kind of money again.. ive been paralyzed for about 2 1/2 years now and i am a true american and would like to get back to work to get of disability if possible.. i never served my country mainly because i had my first child at 15.. work came before everything including school was after.. my first tax return at the age of 18 was 42,000 back in the mid 90's! so im not some dumb drop out.. but i regret not severing as i come from a long family history of men who served. including my dad, he served 4 years in Denver in the air force. and i wanted to fly in the air force so bad. but instead had 2 wonderful children so yea, id like to get back to work. i disagree with someone paying my way through life just cause im lazy. too much of that going around already! but anyways, sorry to get off track there but yeah, if you decline to pay beretta for an inbox gun and just ask for yours back, you have to file out a form state that this gun will never be safe to operate again with s/n XXXXXX.. and if you dont sign it you cant even get your own gun back.. so, now after thinking about it a lot more, im not sure if it was wise to send it in.. i have a bad feeling about it!! but my buddies gun is a lot older.. and ive not seen the problem in the older tomcats. just the ones put out the last few year or little more.. like i said, i loved it till then but will never buy another one and from the way beretta has been treating people i dont think ill ever buy from beretta again.. but, this is not a beretta forum right..
on the other hand, i did get a deal on a S&W i could not pass up. it was so good when he showed it to me i pulled the grip real quick and got the s/n.. the local police department actually dispatched a car out to run the number and it came back clean!! i didnt want to be buying a stolen gun.. so right after that i got him back and purchased the gun.. feel in love with it before shooting it and could have made love to it after shooting it!! ha.. its a model 36.. even with just a 2 inch barrel 50ft was no problem with this gun.. wow. its in beautiful shape, from the looks of the bluing i dont think it was ever holstered. but from what i here this can decrease the value.. more people are seeking guns with the bluing rubbed off the barrel and cylinder to show signs that it been used a bit and has a bit of history to it.. but im not sure, because you couldnt buy a new gun thats been blued that looks near this good!! but i have some questions and i posted them with only hello answers.. id like to know more and still working on carrying it, and this is the first forum ive even been on so, maybe im just doing something wrong.. when i get a little more time im going to study how these forums really work.. feel free to give me any advise.. and keep an eye on the inside right of the frame on your 3032.. but if its an older one i bet it was made with stronger alloys and bet you probably wont have an issue..
