S&W 38 Chief Special serial number question
Hi,
My Dad just past away and left me a 38 Chief Special Mod 36.
Would anyone know if this is a good gun. He didn't use it much. How or where can I find out the year it was made?

Welcome to the Forum.
The M36 Chief's Special is a very good revolver. They've been making them for about 60 years and have sold a bunch of them.
On the bottom of the butt there should be a number, possibly letters too. Tell us what they are and we can get you a year of manufacture.

Welcome from Texas dadsgunforme. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
The model 36 is a fine revolver and our condolences on the death of your father.
