Native American West Virginia transplant
I’m a Native American Naturist and I’m married to a White Italian Woman. We used to live in the Washington DC area until 911. I dropped my wife off at her office across the street from the smoking Pentagon and went to work selling car parts to crackheads, terrorists and bureaucrats. We decided to get away from the big city and moved to small town West Virginia.
We moved out here to get away from the terrorists only to find the locals don’t seem to approve of a White woman being married to a dark skinned Injun. Our house was vandalized, obscenities written on or vehicle windows, trash thrown in our backyard and fires lit on our front porch. I’ve even had my life threatened by a skinhead. I researched our self defense options and decided on firearms. We both got our carry permits. I carry a model 442 loaded with 110 grain Federal Hydroshock hollowpoints and my wife carries a model 66 with a 4 inch barrel loaded with 110 grain semi-jacked .357 magnum hollowpoints. We have a double barreled shotgun loaded with number 3 buckshot for home protection. I was grilling steaks one day and talking with my neighbor and telling him of our self defense strategies. The vandalism stopped and people are so friendly now.

Sounds like you live in a locality full of ignorant jerks. I'd be inclined to move elsewhere, but I know that isn't always easy. I don't think you'd have issues like that where I live. Even in conservative Nebraska.
Makes me wonder about your neighbor. Is he one of the haters, or did he just spread the word about your defenses so that people would leave you alone?

I asked my neighbor and he claims he didn't see anything or anyone and the police won't do anything. But being a small town, word gets around. As far as moving elsewhere, we don't know where we can go to get away from the hate and we have no intention of continually pulling up roots. It's beautiful up here in the mountains and we intend to stay. When we're anywhere around town, I always make sure I print a little so people know that this old Injun's packing.

While running some errands today, My wife and I ran across a couple of small shops interested in handcrafted items made by a genuine American Indian. I’ve been making Indian jewelry, pouches, knife sheaths and decorated tomahawks and selling them at flea markets and fairs. It seems odd that an area with such hateful bigoted people also has people that like to have American Indian items as well. I’m going to try to raise enough funds to get an M&P9c, lotsa ammo and enough leather to make a holster or 2 or 3.

Gheez, tell me about being brown, been there, done that! I wish when I was growing up my parents had said: "There will be people that won't like you because of your skin color, the way you look, your name....don't let it drag you down, it's their problem not yours".
They never said anything about that sort of stuff, I figured it out all myself!

Yeah, I had to figure it out on my own too. Got into a few fights, well actually, I sent people a few to the emergency room.
