gas block problem
Hi everybody
I just bought a S&W M&P 10 and update it before to shoot with it. I put a Vortex Viper PST, Harris bipod, laser and light and handrail Leapers UTG PRO AR Style Model 308 Quad Rail System . I took out the original hand guard and remove the gas block because it was kind of tight. I put it back the same way it was well I suppose, I install the new quad rail and went to shoot some round to fix my scope. The rifle doesn't blowback the bolt as it suppose to do and i am obliged to do it manually. Anyone have an idea? did I put it back wrong? should I change the gas block regarding the type of handrail I installed?
Thank you

Howdy from Ohio...good to have you in the house! You'll want to ask your question in the M&P 10 section of the forum: better traffic thus more insight/answers. Good luck!

First off no matter how bad you want to change something you should first clean and lube then take it out and fire several hundred rounds to make sure there are no issues with the firearm. Then you can go crazy knowing the weapon functions properly. Sound like a gas problem. I don't know for sure if it will cause a problem but are you sure you installed the gas block properly. Only thing you have done that could effect the action is the gas block. Maybe you could put a snap cap or fired case in the chamber blow air in the muzzle, then see if you can hear or feel air coming into the upper receiver from the gas tube. Or a long needle tube on a air chuck and blow through the gas tube in the upper. It was probably test fired in the factory so it had to function there.
And a warm from “wild and wonderful “ West Virginia at least that’s what they tell us.
