New From New York
Been a long road to a permit but met with the judge and was approved with no restrictions. Decided the M&P 45 will be my first purchase.

Welcome from Ohio. Congrats on your permit as I understand it's not a gun friendly state.

Welcome From Nassau County
Another satisfied M&P .45 user here, but I did convert it to the Apex trigger system.

I sorry but I have to ask (and I know guns law up there are strict) but you had to meet with a JUDGE to get a permit to buy a handgun? You mean a person in black robes in a court room?

A judge approves every addition/deletion of firearms to/from a permit in just about every county outside NY City. Within NY City, the licensing authority is the Police Commissioner.

Yes he/she decides whether a restricted/unrestricted permit will be issued.

Yes - or ANY permit at all, for that matter.

Good news. Congratulations. You might want to try a police supply store like Streicher's & others. You can get a good First Responder/Military discount which also includes an extra mag. My M&P40C cost me $398 brand new. I was fortunate to get the additional S&W rebate of $50 in their "Nation's Finest" program for Military Veterans. Final price - $349 with 3 mags.
