Problems loading 7+1 in 9mm Shield
I'm hoping someone can give advice about loading M&P Shield (9mm) with 7+1 or 8+1 (extended mag). While I realize these single stack magazine springs are stiff, I can easily fully load them with an UpLula. However after I chamber one in the pipe and then load one more in the mag, I cannot for the life of me get the magazine to re-seat! I love this gun and it's my CCW go-to. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Welcome from Wisconsin, Dave!
Try loading & unloading the magazine many times. That will take some tension out of the spring. If loading mags are difficult & hard on your fingers (that's typical) I suggest doing what I & many M&P owners have done & get a Maglula loader. The best $30 I've spent in a long time. Makes loading mags easy & fast. Even though the springs on the mags for my full size M&P40 & M&P40C have relaxed somewhat I still use the Maglula. I always give my mag a slap with the heel of my hand when loading it in the gun making sure I've first tapped the mag to set the rounds so they're back far enough, flush with the rear of the mag & the nose isn't sticking out too far.
I'd rather have mag springs a little too stiff than too loose for reliable feeding.

I have trouble seating the 7 rd mag when full with a round in the chamber on my 9mm shield. It always seats but only when inserted with authority. Its easier on my 40 shield.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate you kind welcomes and the advice on my +1 Shield loading problems. Took your opinions to heart and problem solved with a good whack to the baseplate! And, I am a huge fan of the UpLula! That cool invention really saves my fingers when I'm loading my Shield or my Ruger SR 9.
Stay safe and thanks again! Love this Forum!

7 mag will only take 6
I have tried and tried to load the 7th round in my 7 mag cartridge and it won't go in. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
It just takes some quick thumps. It also gets easier over time.

Make sure the "spacer" on the extended magazine is seated against the base plate. If it is not you can get a very nasty pinch on the palm of your hand with the wack method. Take it from someone who has been there!

Try taking the magazine apart and clipping off one coil at a time, reassembling and test firing after each clipping.
I don't know why so many shooters are so reluctant to do this.
If you make a mistake and take off too many coils, order a new one and start over. They are cheap.
Kahr's are particularly bad for using magazine springs that are WAY too long. I have owned several and usually end up shortening the spring about 25 to 30% of it's length to improve feeding of the first round out of the magazine and to make them easier to load.
I refuse to own any magazine-loaded gun that requires a loader to load the magazines.
