NEW in NWFlorida
Just laid out the $ for a very slightly used SW40VE Sigma. Looking forward to putting this through its paces, and finally having something with reasonable punch for home defence, decent weight and size for CC, and nice accuracy for the range. It'll be an interesting evolution for me since the Sigma seems to have a lot of info on DIY mods that look promising to someone like me that has a decent amount of mechanical and fabrication experience, but nothing much in the realm of gun smithing or maintenance.
My personal history involving firearms is limited:
.28 ga break action, Savage I believe
.22 cal bolt action (currently out of action, needs new woodwork)
.22 cal semi, sub-compact pistol, Jennings/Raven. (surprisingly reliable though)
.32 cal S&W snub nose revolver, never fired, (broken striker on the hammer, too $$ to fix)
.40 cal Semi, High Point. Liked it, but I had to part ways with it due to financial issues. This'un is what the Sigma is replacing/upgrading.
Shooting experience with several other calibers/guages, hunting and target shooting when I was younger, but this is pretty much it in a nutshell.
Looking forward to spending some time here as I get to know my Sigma.

Thanks much! Originally from Ohio myself actually. Over near Zanesville. Thats where all my shotgun experience came from: White tail hunting in Coshocton county.

Welcome from Wisconsin! I had to get rid of my Sigma 40VE so I'd be able to buy an M&P40C. I wanted a certain degree of compatibility with the full size M&P40 that I also owned. The full size mags also fit in the compact. I sure wish I could have kept the Sigma but my neighbor really wanted it & he paid top dollar for it. That was the deal breaker.

Welcome from another Floridian (Panhandle, Refugee from farther north).
If you're near Pensacola, there's a gun show this Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds. I'm afraid to go; bought another gun at the last one, and another on my vacation in Sepember. I'm trying to resist temptation until 2015.

*lol* Thats actually where I got my old High Point .40 several years ago. Much as I'd like to go and see about maybe picking up a few necessities for the Sigma, I'm having to pass. Work interferes per usual. I'm over here in Crestview though, so I'm betting they'll pop up here at Ft. Walton fairgrounds soon enough. Not to mention Jays, Precision Tactical, and a couple of other places that have recently opened up here in the area.. ...

Moondawg, Air Force? Active or vet? Guessing you're probably not terribly far from me. I'm only 20 minutes or so from Eglin.
