Illinois SW Lover (N-Frames)
The first handgun in a powdered cartridge I shot was an SW 29 1960's 6 and 1/2" barrel white outline rear red ramp front in full house reloaded 240 grain lead semi wadcutters to Elmer Keith's satisfaction. I later bought my first pistol and used Elmer Keith 250 gr semi wadcutters lead and alloy. That load would shoot through a downed telephone pole from one side to the other and I was with a witness. He was an animal vet that came out to the ranch on occasion in the 70's. Large animal vet.
Now I am in IL with 3 29s from SW:
1. 1985 629-1 8 and 3/8" barrel red ramp front white outline rear.
2. 29-10 6 and a half inch barrel anniversary of intro.
3. 29-10 4" that shoots the best for me.
The photo is my latest SW. 29-10 with some engraving by SW that does little to tell the gun shoots straight with full house 240gr JHPs (Black Hills) and 180 gr Remington JSPs. The latter shoots out the barrel extremely loudly. The 240s give a kick but the noise is less.
I also have these other 29s:
I have 27s, 10s, too for .357 or .38 but the 29 is my favorite to date!

Welcome aboard, especially from another northern Illinois N frame aficionado.
Nice to see an engraved 29.

Well the N frames are the best large frame design for me. The X Frame is a bit too big to feel like an old time revolver.
Cheers to you all!

I was checking my incoming mail and found lots of friends here.
I am still getting used to the framework of the forum which is really a high speed affair with lots of options and such. I can spend a whole day reading forum information and options.
I would like to say in this welcome room my manual of skills in the Army was 56A.
I enjoyed every minute of active/mobilized/deployed (C141 for me to Haiti in 1995) to places all over the world that I would not be able to get to on a vacation/cruise. I saw places without the pomp and circumstance.
Everyone I met in uniform and with the uniform in those places are a fond memory to me.
I don't know if there is a way out of the greeting room here but I will come back on occasion to greet incoming.
Cheers to all.
John
