Model 29-3 "Keeper System" ?
I recently purchased a mod 29-3 from an auction site. It has 3 vertical, semi forward cuts towards the end of the barrel at the 10:00 and again at the 2:00 positions (total of 6). I am told this is the "keeper system" designed to reduce muzzle flash at night, to allow one to get back on target quicker.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Sounds more like some kind of porting of the barrel.
Pictures would help.
