Hello hello all. I am 42, married with 1 daughter (empty nester) and have recently discovered the interesting & exciting world of firearms. I purchased my first firearm in December 2015 - an M&P 9, and I love it. I obtained my CCW license in June. I purchased a Shield 9 around the same time, and now I have an M&P 15 on the way!!!! I see how easy this is to become an addiction.
A little background...
Back in 2009 or so I signed up for a 2 month long weekly class at the local PD's Citizen's Police Academy. One of the events we did was shooting at the police gun range. There was also a "competition" at the end of that day. This was the first time I ever shot a firearm. I think it was a Glock 23. Would you believe it if I told you I WON the competition out of a class of about 30 ppl?! Beginner's luck I suppose. Years went by and finally on Jan 1, 2015 I took my daughter to the gun range. During 2015 I went to the range several times, until, like I said, I finally purchased my first in December.
My wife doesn't enjoy shooting at all, but remarkably, she, for the most part, has OKed my firearm interest, though if I talk about it too much she gets irritated!
I am full time employed at the corporate office of a national home furnishings franchiser for the last 15 years, and I take care of the computer systems there.
Other things my wife & I enjoy are boating, fishing, line dancing, clubbing, and pets. Before becoming empty-nesters, she was an incredible power-couponer. I am the "accountant" of the family and over the course of 5 or so years she has scored more than $10,000 in product from coupons alone.
